Director 

John DeFilippo
Director

John is in his twelfth season as the Director of Tennis at Solaris Racquet Club. When he arrived he brought with him the Academy: a highly successful program for developing young players, which he created and has continually refined over a 20-year period. It is recognized as one of the most highly successful junior programs in the Northeast. Each year a number of Academy graduates go on to play college tennis at the highest level.

Prior to starting the “Academy” program, he studied at the renowned Tennis Technology Program in Tyler, Texas under the tutelage of Steve Smith. In 2005 he was awarded the William Freedman Award, given to a person who has made an outstanding contribution to the development of
junior tennis throughout his or her career. This award, given in memory of William Freedman, was first presented in 1969.

He is a USTA High Performance coach and a member of the New England Coach’s commission.

Marc Lupinacci
Head Pro/Adult Clinic Coordinator
Marc Lupinacci
Marc has been with Solaris Racquet Club since 1999. Previously, he was the Junior Clinic Coordinator for the Shippan Racquet Club in Stamford for 6 years. During the summer months he serves as Director of Tennis for the Italian Center in Stamford since 1994. In 1985 Marc attended the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy and trained with Andre Agassi, Jim Courier, Monica Seles and other aspiring juniors.

Marc graduated from Bloomsburg University in 1990. He was co-captain of their tennis team which had a #2 national ranking in Division II. He was a 4-time Pennsylvania State Athletic conference singles and doubles champion. Marc is a USPTA P1 Certified Tennis Professional and a member of the Wilson advisory staff.

Kris Hrisovulos
Coach /Jr. Coordinator
Kris has been a full time coach at Solaris Racquet Club since 2000 with a 2-year stint in between at Norwalk Fitness Club as Assistant Director/Junior Coordinator. Kris was ranked #5 while playing at Niagara University. At Staples High School he was a member of the All State Doubles Team 1998-2000 and Top Sectional Player 1998-2000.  He earned a BA in Business and Sports Management from Niagara University in 2004.

Todd Paul

Todd joined Solaris Racquet Club in the fall of 2010. Prior to that he was a top ranked National Junior player. Todd received a full scholarship to Wake Forest where he became the most successful player in the school's history. He reached a #1 ranking in the NCAA in his senior year and received numerous awards for his accomplishments.  After graduation he turned Pro and held career high rankings of 480 in singles and 280 in doubles. Todd was born and raised in Stamford, CT

Thommas deLiefde
Thommas joined Solaris Racquet Club in 2008. Prior to this he was at Kings Highway Tennis Club where he taught private lessons & clinics to adults & juniors. Other coaching experience was at the Quogue Field Club, Quogue, NY where he was the Assistant Coach of the Men's tennis team - Individual coaching in strategy and technique. At Westmount College he was #1 ranked player. Awarded All American Collegiate in the NAIA division. Thommas earned a B.A. in Economics & Business at Westmont College, Santa Barbara, CA

Gregg A. Paolini

Gregg  A. Paolini
Gregg has been a teaching pro in Fairfield County for the past 19 years. He has been coaching nationally and sectionally ranked players at Solaris Racquet Club as well as being the Director of Tennis at the Long Ridge Club in Stamford during the summer for the past 8 years.
Previously he served as Head Tennis Professional for the Stamford Yacht Club for 10 years. There he worked with adult and junior programming, competitive team tennis, and junior development.
He is a member of the USPTA, USPTR and USRSA and a graduate of the USTA High-performance coaching program in Atlanta, Georgia.

Tom Carey

Tom Carey
Tom is in his seventh year of coaching at Solaris Racquet Club. Prior to joining us he was the Director or Tennis for 32 years at the Middlesex Club in Darien, Kings Highway Club and a Head Professional at the Shippan Racquet Club.
Tom’s extensive teaching experience includes coaching sectionally and nationally ranked junior and women’s teams as well as private lessons and clinics. He is a USTA-certified performance coach as well as a certified Connecticut high school coach.
As a player Tom achieved a world ranking in both singles and doubles in 1980. More recently he has been ranked #1 in the East in Men’s open doubles and nationally ranked #24 in the USA Men’s 45 Singles.
He graduated from Holy Cross College in Worcester, Massachusetts where he captained Varsity Tennis.

Adrienn Hegedus

Adrienn Hegedus
Adrienn has been a world tournament player for years and has achieved a ranking of 178 in the world. She represented her native country, Hungary, in the Federation Cup. As a participant in the Grand Slam and major world-class tournaments, she has developed a highly creative goal oriented professionalism and experience in coaching and motivating juniors. Having practiced with world-class tennis players, she gained insight into how stars are trained. During her college years she was the NCCA All-American, ITA collegiate All Star Team, NCCA Senior player of the year, and was nominated twice for the Honda Award, given to the best collegiate women athletes in the nation. Sports Illustrated named her as a “player to watch.” She is a member of the German and Hungarian Tennis Coaches Association and is very active in the Hungarian Sport Management Association.

Jack Lynch

Jack  Lynch
Jack joined Solaris Racquet Club in 2008 after having spent the summer coaching at the Country Club of Fairfield, CT . Previously he was with Westboro Tennis and Swim in Massachusetts and The Extreme Tennis Academy in Miami, Florida, spending one year at each. He is USPTA certified and is a ATPCA Level 2 Coach.
His playing experience was on the futures and satellite tours for 2 years and earned 2 ATP and 12 doubles points. He played World Youth Cup representing Australia in the 16-and-under category and ranked 4th in Australia in under 16.
